THE LIFESTYLE

We spend wonderful weeks of vacations here. A place of stability, it is where we always return to. It seems to us as though La Soulan will last forever, like a home, where we have roots.

A sofa big enough to accommodate the whole family. On the dining table, duck rillettes, semi-salted butter, baguette, salads, Bayonne ham, goat cheese... In the evening, the aperitif is a pretext for long reflections while drinking glasses of Floc de Gascogne. The soft breeze brings the scents of the airial and the ocean and one feels soothed by the immense orange canvases that appear in the sky behind the barn.

The large covered terrace allows us to fully enjoy the countryside with lunch in the open air. Shells are placed on the colored napkins of the set-up table. Oysters from the banc d'Arguin, grilled meats, Entre-deux-Mers wines, and some cakes from Les Landes. The candles cast their oscillating glow in the night.

And the family party where friends and family sit on wobbly chairs. A rough linen sheet is used as a tablecloth. The tables are full of pies and cakes; the legs of lamb are still baking in the antic bread oven... The whole day was spent shopping and cooking in good spirits. Dinners under the great black sky of the airial. We keep talking loudly, laughing, clattering glasses.

The central island is the central part of the kitchen, which plays an important role in our philosophy of life. It's not just about eating, it's also about choosing dishes, shopping and helping each other on either side of the large counter.

The house is also a place to rest in the fall and winter. On the way back from our walks in the forest, we already have images of fires in the stove, sofas, carpets and Finnish plaid under which we lay. Rain can beat the airial while the wind shakes the house. A storm on the Atlantic that runs to us. There is a feeling of refuge behind these large bay windows where the white armchairs stretch out their arms, directly in front of the light and facing the library.
